The Essential Items Needed At Every Kids Birthday Party

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Throwing a kids birthday party will take a huge amount of planning. You want to give them memories that will last a lifetime, so it’s got to be done well. There are a few essential items that will be needed at every kid’s birthday party, so here’s a preliminary checklist to make sure you don’t forget anything important.

•    Toys and games. These will be essential to keep kids occupied, so make sure you’ve got a good range. You could well want to play specific party games as well, so always ensure you’ve got everything that could be needed including chairs (musical chairs), parcels (pass the parcel) and music (everything!).

•    Party supplies. This is quite a broad-ranging one, but it includes things like the cutlery and tableware (preferably paper or plastic and ideally themed options), balloons, party hats, banners and masks.

•    Food. The catering will probably be one of the most important decisions, and finger food is often the style of choice at kid’s birthday parties. And of course, don’t forget the birthday cake!

•    Party bags. Another hugely important aspect, the party bags should definitely not be left to chance. You need to make sure that you’ve got the right party bag fillers to suit the theme of the party, and ideally go for different options for boys and girls to keep everyone happy.

These are just a few essential items that you’ll need for your kid’s birthday party, and there are sure to be things you can add to the list. Make sure you don’t miss any important points, and for a store that will be able to supply just about everything needed make sure to come to us here at Netpricedirect.

What Should You Put In Children’s Party Bags?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Kids love a party – what’s not to love? Plenty of junk food, cake, games and to top it all off, the kids party bags at the end of it are the icing on the cake.

If you are hosting a kids party for the first time and aren’t sure what to put in the children’s party bag, then get some advice. No kid wants their parent to be the one who gave out rubbish party bags.

Here are some top tips for children’s party bag fillers:

1.    Cake

No children’s party bag is complete without a slice of birthday cake. This makes sense for you, as the party host, because the less sugar the children consume on the party premises the better when it comes to clearing up time.

2.    Go for noise

Balloons (perhaps ones that complement the party theme, if you have one) and whistles are great fun fillers for kids party bags but the parents may not thank you for it.

3.    A little something sweet

Mini-packets of chocolate and sweets are readily available in supermarkets and kids love them. Buy a large variety bag or stick to one or two popular brands – ask the child whose birthday it is for some guidance and remember that some children have allergies so check with parents first.

4.    Little toys and games

Added extras such as jewellery or games don’t have to cost much but make lovely additions to kids party bags. The key with this is not to spend an extravagant amount – this is not only embarrassing but sets an awkward precedent for other parents – but to combine thoughtful trinkets with the classics.

What To Serve At A Kids’ Birthday Party

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

When preparing food for a kids birthday party, the important thing is to plan as far ahead as possible. Make lists, shop and prepare everything the day before – except the sandwiches – as there will be more to do on the day than you realise and you will have the added distraction of a very excitable birthday boy or girl to contend with.

The safest rule of thumb is to serve things in bite-sized servings – that way children at the kids party can help themselves to lots of different things without wasting too much.

Sandwiches are a good starting point. Serve a selection of fillings – tuna, cheese, ham, egg and plain butter should provide something for even the fussiest eater at your kids party. Use a couple of different breads, cut off the crusts.

Mini sausage rolls and scotch eggs or pork pies plus slices of quiches are handy additions. Most kids love pizza, so stick to safe cheese and tomato or cheese and ham, slice them into finger slices and let them help themselves.

It wouldn’t be a kids party without sweets. Put out bowlfuls of sweets and chocolates, miniature versions of popular chocolate bars and trays of biscuits. Be careful about providing nuts or chocolate nut spread in case a child has an allergy you haven’t been made aware of.

While kids love soft drinks they do get a bad press and some of them aren’t allowed it at all, so stick to fruit juices and cordials – this has the added benefit of avoiding hyperactivity and a chaotic party!

Why A Cake Is The Most Important Part Of A Kids Party

Monday, March 1st, 2010

The ceremony surrounding the bringing out of the birthday cake at a kids party is what makes the child having the birthday the star of the party. The lights are turned right down, there are blazing candles making their way towards you, everyone at the kids party is singing your name while you close your eyes, make a wish and blow out the candles – as adults this is embarrassing at worst or a bit of fun at best. For children, this is thrilling.

This is why, when a child reaches a certain age, the cake at a kids party is so important.

Baking isn’t the mysterious science we are led to believe, so why not make the cake yourself? You could get the child having the birthday to help you, which would make them feel very special and add to the occasion, or you could make it a complete surprise. The nice thing is that children who are old enough to appreciate the sight of a decorated cake at a kids party, are usually old enough to appreciate the effort that went into a homemade one.

Get a tried and tested recipe from a friend who is experienced at baking, or find a recipe online. You can make it as complicated as you like or as simple – buying a mix and adding an egg and some milk is as easy as it gets!

Alternatively, you could go the whole hog: make the cake from scratch, decorate it to fit in with the theme of the kids party, and watch your child’s face when he or she sees it covered in candles.

At Netpricedirect we can provide an array of birthday party supplies and decorations to make your little one’s birthday celebration one to remember. Whether you’re looking for a particular central theme or more general partyware, we have it all.

Themed Childrens’ Parties

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Holding a themed kids party couldn’t be easier. It actually takes less effort than a standard children’s party, because a lot of the work is done for you. In the party supplies section on our website you’ll find plenty of ideas for themes and get the high quality, cheap party supplies you need to pull it off.

Colour is key. Kids love bright colours and having a big, bold table cover with matching plates goes a long way towards spreading colour throughout the venue and creating an exciting party atmosphere. The theme can be a specific thing like a cartoon – choose the right one and your child will love you for it – or more general, like a pirate or jungle theme. You could even centre the party toys around this theme.

Matching the cake to the theme can be done by a bakery if you don’t have the time or the know how to bake and decorate it, and you can include party hats or even masks for the kids to wear. Use some colour co-ordinated party decorations such balloons and streamers and the venue will look fantastic with very little effort. Again, everything you need (well, everything but the cake and the sunny day) can be found in our children’s party supplies section.

If you want to go a little further with the theme, why not make it a costume party? Make sure you give out invitations well in advance to give other parents the chance to find or make good costumes, but it will make the day that bit more fun. Including party toys related to specific fancy dress costumes could also make the celebration more exciting.

Filling Kids’ Party Bags

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

The party bags for children are the highlight of a party for most kids. In addition to providing plenty of entertainment and party toys to keep them amused while you sort out the cake and arrange other activities, it’s a little present for everyone and gets them all in the right mood to enjoy your child’s birthday party to the fullest.

Lollies and sweets are an easy filler and can be used to add bulk to the kid’s party bags. Choose sweets that come individually wrapped to keep them clean and hygienic. Lollipops are ideal and can be bought in bulk at discount shops very easily. However, they are sometimes best avoided for parties with lots of very small children, who might be inclined to get excited and run around with lollipops in their mouth – accidents do happen. Wrapped bon-bons and soft sweets are easily sourced too, and get around this problem well.

There should be a handful of small toys in every bag. These can be bought for tiny prices from our children’s party supplies section. It’s good to include some toys with a celebratory theme in the party toys, like novelty balloons and bubble blowers, to add to the atmosphere of the party. Activity toys like bouncy balls, mini pencil packs, and modelling clay can be taken home or used in games at the party, which is another nice touch.

As long as it’s bright and cheerful, there will be something for everyone and all of the guests will leave happy – an important element in any successful party. There are many different party bag fillers featured on our website, so there is guaranteed to be something suitable for your party.
